Group Classes

This is our most popular option. Classes meet once a week for 1 hour. Small class size means personal attention. All breeds and ages are welcome. Dogs/pups must have proof of age appropriate vaccinations before participating in any class. We also recommend Bordetella vaccine for dogs over 12 weeks of age.

Basic Obedience

Pictrure of dog Training

Class meets once per week for 7 weeks. Dogs and puppies who have been in the home for at least two weeks and have received at least one set of vaccinations are welcome. The class covers on-leash basic obedience. This includes loose leash walking, wait, sit, down, come, stay, place and a few extras. Emphasis is placed on leadership and developing a relationship with your dog. Classes are helpful for socialization and learning manners. The fee is $80 for the 7 week class.

PLEASE NOTE: Humans (without dogs) come the first week with proof of vaccines. Dogs come the second week to join in the fun. Check our calendar for upcoming classes.

Intermediate Obedience

Pre-requisite: completion of a basic obedience class or foundation in basic obedience with the handler.

Focus of class is on basic obedience commands around distractions and building distance from dog while giving a command. Additional obedience commands include stand, side, yield and finish. Class meets once per week for 6 weeks. Cost: $75.

Advanced Obedience

Pre-requisite: Completion of intermediate obedience class or solid foundation in basic obedience around distractions.

You will continue to work on obedience and advanced obedience skills around distractions and at a distance. Additional obedience commands include: back, drop on recall and motion commands. The handler and dog are also prepared to take the AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC) Test (click here for more information). The fee is waived for the CGC when the participant takes the test at Circle Tail at a later date. Class meets once per week for 6 weeks. Cost: $75.

Remedial Obedience

This is a drop-in class that meets the first and third Saturday of the month at 1:00 p.m. for 1 hour. It is beneficial for the dog and handler to have a working knowledge of basic obedience. This class is an opportunity to practice obedience around various distractions and different dogs and people. Agility activities are frequently incorporated into class. It is a good way to build your dog's confidence. Pay as you go, $3/ session.

Remote Collar Training

The remote collar of today is a modern piece of electronic equipment that can be used to develop, change and modify a dog’s behavior. It is used as a means of communication; an invisible leash. The stimulation means “attention”! The only requirement for remote collar training is a foundation of basic obedience with the dog/handler.

Remote collar training can be accomplished through private lessons or one or two introductory private lessons followed by joining the remote collar group class. This training is recommended for any dog, including easy and difficult to train dogs with or without problem behaviors. Focus is on attention to handler, basic obedience exercises and off-leash control. Circle Tail recommends and sells a mid-range, waterproof Dogtra collar.
