At
Circle Tail, a variety of training options are available to you and your
dog.
GROUP CLASSES
Our most popular option. Classes meet once a week for 1 hour. Small class size means personal attention. All dogs must have proof of age appropriate vaccinations before participating in any class. We also recommend Bordetella vaccine for dogs over 12 weeks of age.
Basic Obedience -
Class meets once per week for 7 weeks. Dogs and
puppies who have been in the home for at
least two weeks and have received at least one set of vaccinations are
welcome. This class covers on leash basic obedience which includes loose leash
walking, sit, down, come, stay and a few extras. Emphasis is placed on
leadership and developing a relationship with your dog. Classes are helpful for socialization and
learning manners. The fee is $75 for the 7 week class. PLEASE NOTE: Humans (without
dogs) come the first week with proof of vaccines, dogs come the second week to
join in the fun.
Intermediate Obedience - Class meets once per week for 6 weeks. Requirements include a solid foundation in basic obedience with the handler. Motion and distance commands are taught as well as the beginning of off leash obedience. The handler and dog is also prepared to take the AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC) Test (click here for more information). The fee is waived for the CGC when the participant takes the test at Circle Tail at a later date.
Remedial
Obedience - Drop in class meets every Saturday at 12:30pm. It is beneficial for the dog and
handler to have a working knowledge of basic
obedience. Class is an opportunity to practice obedience around different dogs
and people. Agility activities
are frequently incorporated into class. It is a good way to build your dog's confidence.
Pay as you go, $3/ session.
Remote Collar Obedience - All human and dog pairs meeting individually with trainer first for private lesson and then join together for 3 weeks of group class. Six month of remedial/ remote remedial classes are included in the fee. Requirements include a foundation of basic obedience with the handler. The remote collar helps you communicate with your dog through an invisible leash. Recommended for any dog including easy and difficult to train dogs. Attention exercises, basic obedience and the place command with the remote collar are covered during the session. Class cost includes a waterproof remote collar with an effective half mile range. If you would like your dog reliable off leash, this class is for you!
REMOTE Remedial Obedience - Drop in class for dogs on remote collar meets multiple Saturday a month from 4 - 5pm. It is a requirement that the dog has been through a remote training class to attend. Class is an opportunity to practice obedience using the collar around different dogs and people. Class will be held outside so dress appropriately. It is necessary to email training@circletail.org or call 513-877-3325 to tell your attendance (can't just show up!). Pay as you go, $3/ session. Email for a list of class rules. Current dates set at Nov 10, Dec 1 and Dec 15th.
INDIVIDUAL TRAINING

Private Lessons/ Evaluations - Sessions are scheduled at your convenience to focus on obedience or behavioral issues you want to address. Length of sessions and frequency are based on you and your dogs needs. The fee is $30/ hour.
Board & Train Programs - Traditional or remote collar training programs range from one to two weeks. The program includes evaluation, go home and follow-up lessons, as well as daily boarding and care at Circle Tail. This is a good program for those who feel they do not have time to attend weekly classes.
